30 Day Challenge Update Vol. 1

tattoo for a friend

Hope, is one of the ladies that i work with at Old Navy. She has been asked me to draw a tattoo for her. She is also extremely passionate about her love of Jesus. Hope has been bugging me on and off again to come up with an original sketch for a tattoo that she wants. She wanted something that shows her deep rooted faith in Christ.
Sad to say i don't go to church at all or nearly enough any more. Still i created this piece with plenty of symbolism that i will explain. From the trunk of a tree to the longest root the overall design is in the shape of a cross. I also have the roots spell out the word Christ. The roots have a jagged rendering to symbolize the cross of thrones worn on Jesus' head the day he was crucified. It's just a sketch, i thought about drawing another 1 or 2 but i'm not busy with my sketch challenge at the moment.

motivation.

 sometimes when i don't want to draw or when i feel my art work is a slow hopeless process. I find stories like this inspiring. Stories like this makes me hungry

challenge

In an effort to become a better artist. i began a 30 day challenge yesterday to fill an entire sketch book. This is something that i believe can be done and honestly i haven't done anything like this in a long time. In college one of my professor had our class do this and turn it in. Unlike college, i will not cheat this time and turn in some of my old artwork but i will have 100% completed sketches. Which for me can be challenging not feeling the desire to tear up a piece of paper and throw it away because i don't like the way it going. I may not be able to post frequently but i will try to post often at least.

Antwaun

Antwaun is one of my co-workers at Old navy. The original picture had me looking more like Bruce Leeroy from The Last Dragon. The hairdryer that he was under look more like a chinese hate and his earphone buds resembled that of the strings that ties to the hat. Granted it's just a sketch

the more i look at this sketch the more i realize that it's just okay. I can and could've done a better job with the rendering.
